The most important Hindu religious path in the Himalayas, which is found in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state, in the past which was part of Uttar Pradesh. The path passes through four Hindu pilgrimage destinations – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
Detailed Itinerary
Start your journey from Haridwar to Joshimath by road. It's a long drive, and the distance is approximately 270 kilometers. The journey can take around 10-12 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic.
Upon reaching Joshimath, check into a hotel or guesthouse for the night. Rest and acclimatize yourself to the higher altitude.
After breakfast in Joshimath, drive to Govindghat, which is around 20 kilometers away.
Govindghat is the starting point of your trek. Begin your trek to Ghangaria, which is about 13 kilometers from Govindghat. Stay overnight in Ghangaria, where there are accommodation options available.
Today, embark on a day trek to the Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its breathtaking beauty and diverse flora.
After exploring the Valley of Flowers, return to Ghangaria in the evening.
Trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh pilgrimage site located at an altitude of about 4,329 meters (14,200 feet).
Hemkund Sahib is a steep ascent, so take your time and acclimatize properly. It's a round trip of about 12 kilometers.
Visit the gurudwara (Sikh temple) and the pristine lake near Hemkund Sahib.
Return to Ghangaria for an overnight stay.
Leave Ghangaria and trek back to Govindghat.
From Govindghat, drive to Badrinath, which is around 25 kilometers away.
Visit the Badrinath Temple and take in the spiritual atmosphere of this revered place.
Check into a hotel in Badrinath for the night.
After visiting the Badrinath Temple one more time, begin your journey back to Haridwar.
The drive from Badrinath to Haridwar is long, so be prepared for another full day of travel.
